What is Instagram?

Instagram stories feature was added in August, 2016 and live video feature in November, 2016. Instagram Image Size Guidelines

Primarily Instagram is a Photo sharing network so, the quality of images is very crucial. Since Instagram compresses the image size hence knowing the optimal size can portray your storyline more tempting.

Published Photos: Instagram uses automatic compression algorithms for optimal size due to a large sum of pictures being shared every second. This reduces the resolution of your pictures. Since pictures are the primary source of followers on Instagram, so it is essential to select the best possible size. The optimal allowable size for square pictures is 1080 X 1080 pixels with a maximum resolution of 2048 X 2048 pixels while for landscape it is 1080 X 566 pixels while for portrait, it is 1080 X 1350 pixels. Instagram will show portrait image as 600 X 400 pixels

Instagram Stories and Videos: you can share small clips on both your timeline and Instagram stories. Both of them used different sizes and durations. Your timeline video can be up to 1 minute lonG with an allowable resolution of 640 X 640 pixels. While for Instagram stories, you can share only about 10 second long clip of resolution 750 X 1324 pixels.

Instagram Ads: Instagram provides enormous opportunities to expand your business by sharing details of your new products and brands. You can post your add in a square size of about 1080 X 1080 pixels but it appears to be 640 X 640 pixels. Using landscape format for ad allows you to share 1080 X 566 Pixels ad but it again appears to be 640 X 400 pixels.
